Instagram and hate comments

I made a comment the other day on someone’s art, saying, “This is what it feels like to be neurodivergent as an adult.” It was a comic with someone that seemed to be talking about feeling like an adult but also not really.

There’s lots of things that can make someone feel like this. I was just saying what it reminded me of.

An actual response I got was, “You’re not a neurodivergent adult. You’re just someone that’s been on the internet for 21 years.”

Being neurodivergent isn’t something that stops when you’re an adult. Neither is having a disability, whether it’s learning or physical disability. The difference is that people treat adults with disabilities like they’re invisible or as if they’re something that people grow out of.

That’s if people believe that you have a disability, which happens a lot when you have one that’s a learning disability or if you have something that is not physical.

With love,

Diana
