Currently, I am adapting a fanfiction of mine into a novel. The fanfic is called The Pomegranate Society and it is a retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth.
Originally, I wrote this as fanfiction for the TV series/book series Shadow and Bone. It is sometimes known as The Grishaverse. I was really into The Darkling and Alina Starkov as a couple. I loved the idea of power dynamics and themes that could be explored with that.
Which is probably why I’ve written several novel length fanfictions based on them. Also, Ben Barnes having a pretty face helped that process.
The Pomegranate Society as a fanfiction was originally a modern au set in a University where The Darkling was a professor and part of a secret society.
The rewritten version of this includes that, but I am making it more fantasy based and adding more world building for the gods and monsters.
I am also currently getting a bachelors in screenwriting and it is my hope that I will be able to publish and adapt The Pomegranate Society for either film or television.
