I saw this post today from someone that I used to know. Talking about some weird, conservative talking point. It was strange, because they had this outrage over one person dying. But not for the people dying in Iran. Not for the people dying in Palestine. Not for the people dying in Dilley or in other detention centers.
They pick and choose where they offer their humanity under the guise of Christian faith. I’ve spent years dealing with my imperfections, but these people wouldn’t take a look in the mirror to see theirs. They only see what they want to see.
Of course, I shouldn’t be surprised. They’re the same people that can believe a man turned water into wine, came back from the dead, but they can’t believe that a woman can do things on their own or that people of color have full lives or that queer people are human.
I’m tired of the hypocrisy. I’m tired of having to smile and pretend. But I’m in this weird family situation where I have to rely on them until it’s done and hopefully, one day, I’ll be able to explain things. I hate living in a world where I have to lie about who I am and what’s happened to me.
Everyone seems fine with hiding things under the rug, but I’m not. Not that it matters. People tell their truth all of the time and nothing comes from it…
I could keep it a secret, but I think if I do, it might kill me. When all this stuff I’m dealing with is done, I want to explain the whole thing. I don’t care if anyone’s unhappy about it at this point.
With love,
Diana
