It took me a long time
to think for myself
I thought being good
meant agreeing with everyone
and then one day I heard a reverend
talking to people about who could and couldn’t get married
and all I could think of was,
how can you talk of what god wants,
when there is nothing good about
not being able to be in love with someone
just because it’s not what everyone wants
