I didn’t expect that I’d be getting into video games in my thirties. However, with everything being a subscription now, video games seem to be the one form of entertainment you don’t have to pay for (unless you want to).
Since May, I’ve been obsessed with Love and Deepspace. It’s made by the Chinese company, Infold, who also makes Infinity Nikki. They are known for their stunning visuals and story-telling.
In Love and Deepspace, you are the Main Character (MC). And you are a Hunter who takes on monsters otherwise known as wanderers. You work for the Hunters organization and are part of an elite team known as UNICORN because of your unique evol (power).
Along the way, you meet mysterious and complicated men. At the moment, there are five. The game does different events. Recently, they did a K-Pop inspired event.
At least, that’s kind of how it was advertised. Each of them had their own storyline and song. I played through Xaviers and Sylus’s. Xavier in the story is a fellow Hunter with MC who also happens to be an alien that’s been around forever.
Sylus is a fiend that’s been around forever who runs a criminal organization.
Xavier’s K-Pop event was MC and Xavier participating in a festival. Sylus’s had a little more action. Xaviers was set up to coincide with a movie release in the game.
While both were fun, the thing that was frustrating was that they were advertised with K-Pop vibes in mind when in reality it was more Step Up.
I assume the advertising idea was because Infold thought that there would be a lot of crossover between fans. That makes sense.
My own K-Pop obsession comes and goes, and getting into Love and Deepspace has definitely made it bigger. I discovered Stray Kids this summer and was definitely playing them on a loop.
That said, I like that Infold continuously invents new ways for us enjoy the game. Can’t wait to see what they do in 2026!
Love n’ stars,
Diana Crescent
