And when I was young

I wanted to be

a dolphin trainer

and swim side by side with them

to make them dance and wave

and be their best friend

and then I learned all of the schooling

you had to do to be a dolphin trainer

and that wasn’t possible anymore

But then I wanted to be an FBI agent

Until I learned the system is rigged

And that was no longer something I

felt okay being

And then I wanted to be a writer

And I went to school for it

And hope someone might pay me for it someday

while working retail to keep my lights on

in a job that barely does that

and is only temporary
