Another Nepo Baby enters the entertainment world

Apple Martin is the daughter of Gwenyth Paltrow and Coldplay singer Chris Martin. In what was probably a ridiculous easy push from her parents, InStyle Magazine wrote up an Instagram post about Martin’s modeling deal with Chloe. Again, which she probably got easily because of her famous parents.

The campaign features an expressionless Martin “reading” a book in a chair in a boring, off-white dress with a moody dreampop song playing in the background. She’s on a beach and carrying a knitted bag that says CHLOE in big, bold letters.

InStyle’s only draw to get you to look at the campaign was a post of Gwyneth Paltrow from years ago saying it was probably part of the photographer’s mood board. It’s not even from another photoshoot that could have been similar, or something artistic. It’s just a snapshot of the actress, reminding you that she’s the daughter of this famous woman.

In Martin’s bio on Instagram, she lists herself as an actress. She’s got one credit to her name, an appearance on the show Rooster. I’ve watched the show. I had NO idea what character she was until I was looking this up.

The only thing I know about this girl, aside from her being the kid of someone famous, is that I am chronically online enough I heard there were rumors of her being a bully at her school. She denied accusations of being expelled from her school for bullying. That and an interview her dad gave where he was talking about her getting a job on Ellen working at a store.

And I’m not against someone going into the entertainment field if their parent is in the entertainment field. But it does become increasingly frustrating watching brands continually partner with nepobaby’s because they know that they’ll get attention just from their famous parents’ names.

Especially as her Mom increasingly becomes less of an actress and more of a woman who shells weird shit online to women, it would be nice to see brands partner more with someone who is a newbie trying to make it in the creative industry and doesn’t have the same Hollywood legacy connections that someone like Martin does.

In the age of social media, there are so many influencers that Chloe could have picked to choose from to give their big break. Yet they chose to give it to someone who does not really need the publicity.

With love,

Diana
