Anthony Bourdain

There’s a movie coming out called Tony about Anthony Bourdain. Those of us millennial’s have a reverence for Bourdain because we grew up watching him on television. While news anchors everywhere demonized people internationally, Bourdain took us into their world and taught us to have empathy for them.

He was the kind of guy you could say hi to on the street, and he’d definitely give you a nod back.

There’s this episode I remember where he was in the Middle East. And he didn’t get to film the way he wanted to. He was in a hotel with people, as bombs were being dropped all around them. He spent the entire time talking with people.

While I don’t love biopics, because nowadays they feel like a hollow attempt to sell merch, I think I’ll maybe make an exception for this one. Anthony Bourdain is one of those rare people that I’ll say, yeah. Anything to get the next generation into him.

But the best way to know Bourdain is always through his work. The Parts Unkown series and his books.

With love,

Diana
