I think what’s happening with a lot of white women now is that for the first time, they’re realizing that despite the progress we’ve made, the systems that keep us struggling are still in place. Jeffery Epstein showcases that the patriarchy isn’t something made up at liberal arts colleges. It’s real, and it’s something that effects all of us.
For some white women, it’s the first time they’ve realized we really are the bottom of the food chain in terms of how men view us.
Seeing how someone like Epstein, and all of the rich people around him operate, has been something that’s made me look at history a lot closer. The United States has fooled us for years into thinking that we were the superior nation. We’re the country that always saves people in all of the action movies. The good guys.
But there are other countries that have already started prosecuting people for the Epstein files. Here, there are none. We are a country that thrives under the abuse of women and children. Without that, their whole system falls apart.
Furthermore, we’ve a history of interfering. While there have been regimes that have fallen because of us, there are countries where we have over-stayed our welcome because of some bizarre moral superiority complex our country has.
But Epstein has shown exactly how corrupt our government is at every level. Who are we to be telling other countries how to run theirs when we refuse to do something about the devils inside of our own government?
What the Jeffery Epstein files did for me was erase the myth of U.S. Superiority. If I believed any of that, it’s gone in how this government has repeatedly failed survivors of abuse. Epstein isn’t the first failure. And he won’t be the last, unfortunately.
We’re being laughed at on the world stage and have been for two Presidential terms now. People are starting to see America for what it is, the difference is, this time, at least some of its citizens are awake now too.
We are the bullies. The monsters. Always have been. And it’s going to take forever to fix the damage we’ve done.
