when he’s proven to be a menace to society

the thing of it is, he’s a pro-athlete and will be fine

the thing of it is, he’ll win a nobel peace prize

the thing of it is, he won’t even do time

and he’ll get out again

and I’ll be here with my trauma, spite, and wine

and no one will do a damn thing about the terrors

that come at night,

the thing of it is, they say they want to protect women and children,

but that’s a lie
