I’ve been thinking a lot about how to make the world a better place. While I recognize that Capitalism is a hellscape, it is definitely not going anywhere. If we want to change things, we have to change the way people at the top think about us. Society tells us that if you are poor, unmarried, disabled, a woman, or a person of color, queer or someone else on the fringes that we are not worthy of time. That there is something wrong with you for not being like everyone else and that you should be punished for not behaving like everyone else.
At least that’s what lawmakers would have you believe.
The reality is, the world has always been made up of different people. Those in the highest positions of power feed off of creating fear about those individuals because they are scared of what would happen to them should humanity ever realize that we are the ones that have real power.
How one thinks of a country is determined by leadership. At the moment, we are seeing a massive failure in leadership globally as the truth comes out that those we were told to respect do not in fact respect us. We need to start demanding respect as citizens the respect of citizens looks like this: investing in them.
You wonder why your education is failing. Why your healthcare is terrible. Why the birthrates are low. Why mental health is poor. Your religious ideology is killing society because you believe that you have been given everything instead of the reality of the situation which is that you have gotten everything off of the backs of others. They continue to do it by keeping us scrambling and tired and hungry and unstable and turning us into killing machines for wars that have no right to exist.
Consider this though: wouldn’t you rather have someone say that you have the best salaries and benefits? That you are the kind of company that people want to work for instead of hate automatically when they are spoken?
Don’t you want people to say that our schools, regardless of location or socioeconomic status, provide the best education has to offer? Don’t you want to be able to brag about our housing for everyone? To be able to say that this is a country that people want to visit and stay and work at and not because it is capitalistic hellscape fever nightmare but because we have the best things to offer people?
The best healthcare? The best of everything?
But people cannot be the best if you do not think they deserve the best. If you are not investing in them so that they can offer the best of themselves up to their country no matter where they are in life.
Instead, the government views its citizens as people it would rather take from and hurt. Because that is how they stay in power. But consider this: a country that treats its citizens with dignity is far more powerful than a country that disrespects them. Look at your citizens as people you want to uplift instead of people that you want to control and dehumanize. Invest in people. Give them the best, and the results will give you more profit than any business could.
